TYPICAL WORK SCHEDULE

  • Flexibility: Dispatchers are required to work a set schedule of a minimum of 4 hours 5 days a week.

  • Settlements: This is an Hourly position, pay is bi-weekly.

  • Typical Work Schedule: Road Runner Courier Services LLC operate from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm Monday through Saturday.

A Courier Dispatcher acts as the central hub of a delivery operation, coordinating the movement of packages and documents between drivers, clients, and the company. Courier dispatchers focus on timely, local, and often same-day  "last mile" deliveries.

RUNNER

Driver for Road Runner Courier Service (also known as a "Runner") is responsible for providing delivery services to local businesses and residential customers. Runners use their own vehicles to transport a variety of items, including documents, medical specimens, and retail packages.

DISPATCHER

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Delivery Operations: Pick up and deliver items such as packages, legal documents, lab specimens, and pharmaceuticals in a timely and secure manner.

  • Route Management: Use GPS or smartphone navigation to plan and follow efficient routes, adapting to traffic and weather conditions.

  • Client Interaction: Act as the "face"; of the company by providing professional, friendly customer service to clients.

  • Documentation: Scan or photograph packages and log delivery information into a mobile app or handheld device to maintain accurate records.

  • Package Handling: Load and unload vehicles, which may require lifting items up to 50 lbs.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Vehicle: Must use your own clean vehicle (car, van, or SUV) that is typically less than 10 years old.

  • Age: Minimum age is usually 25+ for Runner roles, though some general delivery positions may accept 21+.

  • Documentation: Valid driver’s license, current vehicle registration, and insurance (often requiring minimum 100/300 coverage).

  • Records: A clean driving record (typically for the last 3 years) and consent to a background check.

  • Tools: A smartphone with an active data/text plan to receive routes and delivery instructions.

KEY SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS

  • Geographic Knowledge: Deep familiarity with the local service area to plan the most efficient routes without relying solely on GPS.

  • Multitasking: Ability to handle multiple phone calls, emails, and radio traffic while simultaneously updating tracking software.

  • Stress Management: Must remain calm and professional while managing multiple urgent "on-demand" orders in a fast-paced environment.

  • Technical Proficiency: Experience with Dispatch/Transportation Management Systems (TMS)  and basic office software like Excel is preferred.

  • Education: High school diploma or GED. 1–3 years of experience in logistics or a call center is preferred.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Runner Coordination: Assign pickup and delivery orders to specific drivers based on their proximity, vehicle type, and current workload.

  • Real-Time Route Monitoring: Use GPS and dispatch software to track drivers progress, adjusting routes instantly to account for traffic, weather, or last-minute customer requests.

  • Customer Liaison: Provide clients with accurate estimated times of arrival (ETAs), resolve issues like missing addresses, and communicate any delivery delays promptly.

  • Documentation & Compliance: maintain accurate logs of all deliveries, verify proof of delivery (POD) signatures or photos, and ensure drivers comply with safety regulations.

  • Troubleshooting: Act as the first point of contact for drivers experiencing mechanical issues, difficult delivery locations, or failed pickup attempts.

WORK REQUIREMENTS

  • Flexibility: Runners set their own availability in advance and earn money on their own schedules.

  • Settlements: Pay is weekly for contractors and bi-weekly for hourly employees.

  • Physical Demands: The job involves getting in and out of a vehicle numerous times a day and working in various weather conditions. 

  • Typical Work Schedule: Road Runner Courier Services LLC operate from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm Monday through Saturday.
